i have a real problem with my teeth. iv had braces and everything but my teeth still arnt stright and they have bobbly bits on the end of them. you will all think im mad but i was wandering if i could get my all of my REAL teeth removed and have them replaced with permanant implants….and if so, what are the disadvantages of this being done?
im being deadly serious guys, help xxx
Whoa….you don’t want to get your permanent teeth extracted, in fact I would be totally shocked if a reputable dentist would voluntarily take them out….Look, Implants when they work, are great…however, implants are working on a national average of about 82%….A major issue is that there are no current tests that can determine if your body will accept the implants with a 100% guarantee…The fact is, your far better off with crooked natural teeth than you are with implants that might go bad…here’s my advice to make you look good. Go to a dentist and get evaluated with regard to having Porcelain Veneers created and placed over your crooked natural teeth…The Veneers can be made in a variety of shapes, thickness and color. Get that evaluation before you give further consideration about implants. Good luck and I wish you well.
Plz give me an overview of how hard it is? Thank you
4 years of college, 4 years of dental school, 3 years of ortho school.
and you have to graduate in the top 1% of the first two to get into ortho school.
I need to get 9 Lumineers. And I CANNOT pay the whole amount up front. So I would like it if someone could answer my question. And also, could someone give me the closest cost that it would be to get 9 of them done? Thanks!
Lumineers can cost between $800-1000 each (depending on the dental office that provides it).
You can always contact the front desk of your local dental office and ask them if they would accept some sort of payment plan (where you might put down 50% down-payment, and pay the rest on your second visit of treatment).
Again, don’t be afraid to ask for payment options.
Good luck with your Lumineers!
What is the rubbery stuff that dentists use to make moulds of the inside of your mouth? I need to know what it’s called and if possible where I can get some…
…It’s for model making.
AS A DENTIST I CAN ANSWER THIS EASILY.
THE MOST COMMON IS A POWDER YOU MIX WITH WATER IT’S CALLED ALGINATE.
THE OLD ORIGINAL VERSION SOMETINES USED TODAY IS CALLED RUBBER BASE COMPOUND.
A MORE MODERN AND EXPENSIVE FORM IS IN AUTO-MIX CARTRIDGE AND CAN BE OF SEVERALVARIETIES AND PROPERTIES.
FOR MAKING MODELS ALGINATE IS A COST-EFFECTIVE OPTION. AS THIS MATERIAL DOESN’T LAST INDEFINITELY, RUBBER BASE IS THE ALTERNATIVE. HOWEVER, FOR MAKING MODELS OF THE MOUTH DENTAL TRAYS WHICH HOLD THE IMPRESSION MATERIAL ARE NEEDED.
TO GET SUCH TRAYS THEY NEED TO PROPERLY FIT YOUR MOUTH. ASK IF YOUR DENTIST IS WILLING TO LET YOU HAVE A FEW.
I have no courage whatsoever to go through it even with laughing gas. Is sedation dentistry dangerous?
that will b fine some of us just cant take the horor of it all
A dentist with 3 years experience in own practice in Peru, looking to become a dentist in California. What is the process?
Pass the state board exams. It is usually held twice a year. Sacramento, and in Los Angeles, I believe. You need to develop a patient base to use for the exams. There are several criteria the patients must meet. You must perform clinical, laboratory, and written exams.
I need dental work done, but cannot afford the prices here in the USA. Are there any reputable countries that do good work?
Most other countries do not steralize there equipment. And the words cheap and cosmetic dentistry scare me, just remember you get what you pay for. I know there are alot of areas that may have some type of clinic for the uninsured. Your best bet is to try to find something like that, or even a Dental College, sometimes they will do work at a reduced rate, for their schooling. Good Luck!!
I need to have a crown & veneer replaced and hope to avoid problems I’ve had in the past; who’s the best to see?
My dental insurance coverage begins in October and I am looking for a great dentist for me & my daughter. She had a horrible dentist in the past, so I am looking for a very gentle dentist for her (she is 6, and please do not suggest Gentle dental as thats where the horrible one works). My insurance covers 100% basic, 80% minor, and 50% major work, and I have much to be done so I’m definitely looking for someone reasonable.
We use a wonderful Pediatric Dentist, my children actually look forward to their appointments. His name is Marshall Ruby D.M.D. and his office is on Cedar Hills Blvd. in Portland, close to Beaverton. Everyone in his office is so sweet and I think he’s smart, and really likes what he does.
