Before getting lumineers, is it necessary or common procedure to get Xrays of all teeth?
I went to a dentist for a consultation on getting lumineers for 6 front top teeth. He told me that before getting them, I need a dental exam and X-rays of all my teeth, which made me suspicious, because it doesn’t make sense why this would be necessary.
thanks, but I am not getting veneers, so there shouldn’t be drilling of any of the tooth surface. Is there any other reason for all the x-rays?
Depending on the type of veneers, applying them may require drilling away some tooth surface. The dentist probably wants to ensure that your teeth can hold up to that kind of stress, since he obviously doesn’t want to cause any damage in the process. They can also have other orthodontic effects, so an exam is required to make sure the final outcome meets everyone’s expectations.
